Tamping evenly compacts the coffee grounds in the portafilter, creating a firm, smooth coffee puck. This prevents channeling and ensures optimal extraction of all the grounds, dissolving all the aromas from the coffee and creating a perfect taste.
This tamper fits perfectly on 51 mm portafilters.
Its core is the patented 4-spring system with a pre-set pressure of 13.6 kg. Once the tamping depth is reached, a mechanical signal sounds, and the tamper releases the pressure. The integrated horizontal guide ring ensures exact vertical alignment. The result is an even puck and a controlled, balanced extraction. After several tests, MHW 3Bomber found that the extraction rate barely changes at the pre-set pressure, even with varying amounts of coffee grounds and extraction times.
The ergonomic, coated handle reduces fatigue during repeated tamping. After each press, the tamper automatically resets and is ready for the next shot. Additionally, the base is equipped with concentric grooves, which allow more coffee grounds to come into contact with the water, leading to better extraction.
It is made from high-quality materials: aluminum alloy for the handle and middle part, and stainless steel (SUS304) for the base and spring. The tamper is robust, durable, and easy to disassemble, making it simple to clean.
