Tamping compacts the coffee grounds in the portafilter, creating a firm and even coffee puck with a smooth and level surface. This prevents channeling and ensures even extraction of all the coffee grounds, releasing all the aromatic compounds from the coffee.
The CD series tamper features a pressure-based spring mechanism to ensure consistent pressure and prevent tipping. The tamping depth of approximately 23 mm is suitable for various coffee brewing needs. The outer ring, which sits flat against the portafilter, ensures the tamper is always pressed vertically downwards. Simply place the tamper on the portafilter and press down; the spring then returns the base to its original position.
This tamper fits perfectly on 51 mm portafilters.
It has an ergonomic handle and fits comfortably in the hand. Furthermore, the base features concentric grooves, which ensure more coffee grounds come into contact with the water. This results in better extraction.
The entire tamper is made from high-quality materials. The handle and middle section are made of an aluminum alloy, and the base and spring are made of stainless steel (SUS304). The tamper can be disassembled for easy cleaning.
